The main lesson learned over and over again is.. no help = a good thing. When you don't have the option to even ask for help, you learn how to pray and figure out a solution very quickly, all on your own. 

So, just like many other things in life, I have had absolutely no help in building my photography business. No mentors, classes or instructors... completely self taught... Its been just me and my camera since the very beginning. Was this the hard way? Absolutely... Did it take a few years to start turning a profit instead of a few months? Sure, it did. Through faith, prayer, lots of research, practice and God given skill, here I am. Now, when I stand back and look at the work I've done, I can be so proud that I brought myself to this point and also, so humbled by what God has given me through faith and perseverance. 

So... Why would I take the time to write all of this out for you? Because, this is what makes me unique. This is what motivates me to pour my heart and soul into every single session I shoot. This is what makes me appreciate my clients more than any other. I am from the South, Texas to be exact, but have fallen truly, madly, deeply for the Colorado Mountains. I started my photography journey about 6 years ago. There were days in the beginning where running my own photography  business felt like a dream that I would never be able to grasp. When I moved to Colorado 5 years ago, it was quite the struggle. The photography industry is BOOMING here. So goes the saying "There's a church on every corner.." Well it feels like there is a photographer on every corner here which can make a photographer that is new to the area, without an established client base feel pretty desperate and unmotivated.
